This option does not appear when creating a new project file.

Design Scaling - If you resize the dimensions of the material with this option selected, it will proportionally scale all of the vectors & toolpaths.

Uses one of those positions as a reference point.

Use Offset - Lets you set a origin point other than a corner or the center.

For irregularly shaped objects, the center may be best as the object may not line up to an edge very easily. This will determine where For rectangular objects, the lower right corner is often easiest to work with as it will let you reach the material while using the computer.

XY Datum Position - Which corner or the center should be used as the origin (x=0 and y=0).

For almost all projects, the top (material surface) is preferable.

Z Zero - Whether the top or bottom of the material should be considered the zero-value for the material.

This does not have any impact on the ShopBot software, which works in inches.

Units - You can work in inches or millimeters.

If the material is not level, use the thickest part.

Thickness - The thickness of the material.

Not to be confused with the thickness of the material.

Height - The length of the material along the y-axis.

Width - The width of the material relative to how it will be placed in the machine.

Rotary - For use with machines that have a rotary / 4th axis attachment.

This streamlines the design process, however you will still have to flip the physical board manually.

Double Sided - When you are cutting into both sides of a board.

Single Sided - When you are only cutting into one side of a flat board.

It is very important to precisely describe your material as that is how it will determine where the router bits move. Open VCarve Pro and set up your workspace (if you have previously created a project in VCarve, you can open that file here). VCarve project files created in version 8.5 should work in 11.0, but toolpaths (.sbp files) should be re-exported from VCarve version 11.0 to avoid errors. Please note that this guide is being updated, but sections may currently be out of date.

The tool library has been modified to automatically name the router bits.
